"Katappo" refers to a single glove that has been dropped or lost. In the lost-and-found box at a train station, these "Katappo" wait for their owners to return. But one night, one of them overhears the stationmaster talking on the phone: tomorrow, the contents of the lost-and-found box are to be "cleared out"—meaning that any items whose owners remain unknown will be discarded.
Determined to take matters into their own hands, the Katappo set out to find their owners themselves. Slipping out of the lost-and-found box and escaping the station before dawn, they begin their journey—but will they manage to reach their owners safely?
This exciting tale, featuring a cast of unique and colorful gloves, marks the picture-book debut of author Etsuko Ohara. The vibrant, charming illustrations are the work of Koji Yamamura, an artist internationally acclaimed for his contributions to the world of animation. As these little gloves forge ahead in search of a place to belong, their journey offers a heartwarming message of courage and encouragement.
